2018-2019 Executive Board
Patty Tokushige, President
Mother to four girls, including twins, Patty is no stranger to PTSA. She served in the capacity of Parliamentarian, Exec VP and President for Westwood Elementary, as well as VP Membership and President for BHMS. In her free time (ha!), Patty enjoys running. This is Patty’s second term as President.
Stacy DeVore Pierce, Executive Vice President
A mother of three, Stacy has been involved at Chaparral ES for eight years, including serving on the Foundation board and as PTA EVP and President. Stacy is a partner in a new local dance store, Dressed 2 Dance, and enjoys early workouts, cooking, and time with family and friends. Previously Stacy was BHMS PTSA VP Ways & Means (Fundraising); this is her first term as EVP.
Kolee Humilde, VP Membership
A mother of two, Kolee served with Chaparral ES PTA as Corresponding Secretary, Volunteer Coordinator, and Mentor Program Chair. Kolee volunteers weekly in the Bobcats Student Store, enjoys running and is a foodie. Her background is in Compliance/Health and Wellness. This is Kolee’s second term as VP Membership.
Sundar Karthikeyan, VP Programs
Father to a pre-teen, Sundar was the Book Fair Chair fall 2017. He was VP Education for Toastmaster and Dir. of Color Division for Sierra Camera Club. Three decades as an Engineering Professional had him manage projects, deadlines and budgets. His passion for photography has evolved into a Contemporary Portraits venture. This is his first term as VP Programs.
Carmen Velasco, VP Volunteers
Carmen is recently married and mother to one son with ADHD, a main reason she got involved in PTSA as an active parent. She has her own company in the real estate industry and for personal enjoyment maintains her community garden and takes photos of urban areas. This is Carmen’s second term as VP Volunteers.
Marci Lee-Stewart, VP Fundraising
Marci has two daughters (6th and 4th grade), and is married to a Naval Dental Officer. She is VP Membership at Westwood Elementary and has chaired Spring Dance and Fall Festival. Other volunteer positions include Officer’s Spouses Club President (1 year) and Auction Chair (2 years), as well as co-leader of a Brownies Troop. This is her first term as Fundraising Chair.
Karen Hooper, Fundraising Deputy Chair
Karen has had one daughter attend BHMS and her younger daughter is now a 6th grader. She was Art Corps Volunteer Coordinator at Westwood Elementary as well as Co-Chair for Fall Festival. She works full time as National VP of Programs for the National MS Society. This is her first term as Deputy.
Carol Pitucci, Recording Secretary
Carol has a current 7th grader. Though she doesn’t hold a PTA position, she volunteered extensively at Chaparral ES, assisting with classroom activities, Art Attack, and field trips. She also served as All Star Coordinator for RBGSL. Carol works full time as a paralegal and she enjoys running, reading, hiking. This is Carol’s first term as Recording Secretary.
Rebecca Sumrall, Treasurer
Rebecca has a 7th and 9th grader. She served at Chaparral ES as Treasurer and VP Ways & Means and organized three years of family dances. She also served as BHMS PTSA Auditor and Foundation Treasurer. Rebecca volunteers with her girls’ GSA troop and is a CPA. This is her second term as Treasurer.
Jill Ferratt, Financial Secretary
Jill's full-time job is her family, including four boys: two at RBHS and two at BHMS. To preserve her sanity (which might be a losing battle), she works full time as a Software Developer. She loves reading, walking her two dogs, and volunteering. Jill has served as BHMS Volunteer Coordinator and Historian. This is her first term as Financial Secretary.
Candace Kollen Axline, Auditor
Candace has previously served as Treasurer and Auditor for the Chaparral Elementary PTA. In addition to the local school community, she has also served as Treasurer on the board of a local baseball club. She has three kids in Poway Unified schools and is a Senior Tax Manager at KPMG LLP.
Emily Kappele, Historian / Reflections
Emily has a 6th grader from Shoal Creek Elementary. She served as Membership Chair and Treasurer at Shoal Creek, and volunteers in various capacities at school and church. Though not currently working, her background is in project management. She enjoys making greeting cards, reading, spending time with family and outdoors. This is Emily’s first term.
2018-2019 Appointed Positions
Patricia Saucier, Parliamentarian
Tricia is mother to one very active teenager and two rescue dogs. In her free time, she works full time as court-appointed counsel for the California Courts of Appeal. She has served on various boards in the community, including two years as BHMS PTSA Recording Secretary. Tricia is nominated for a one term as Parliamentarian.
Amy Powell Carson, Corresponding Secretary
Amy is mom to two boys, both of whom will be at BHMS for the 2018-19 school year (6th and 8th). She works full time selling to the Biotech/Medical Research community, enjoys hiking and home improvement projects. She has served two terms as Parliamentarian at Westwood Elementary and looks forward to working with the BHMS PTSA team.
Ginger Anderson, Communications Chair
Ginger is a full-time marketing professional and mom of two active boys (6th and 5th grade). She serves as volunteer Marketing Director for San Diego Soccer Club, is an active runner, and is involved in Rancho Bernardo’s soccer and lacrosse communities. This is her first term.
Stacey Clark, Education Chair
Stacey has two kids - a 6th and 2nd grader. She began teaching with San Marcos is 2005 and has been with PUSD six years. She currently teaches 1st grade at Westwood Elementary and is on the school site council. Previously, she served one year on the RBSL board. She loves to read, watch her kids play sports and travel—though she doesn’t get to do that enough of it! This is her first term as Education Chair.
Keem Schultz-Fares, Family Engagement Chair
Keem is a mom of two with her younger child in 8th grade (eek!). She served as Treasurer, School Supplies & Field Trips Chair for Westwood Elementary. She chairs PTSA Reflections and is admin of the BHMS Parents’ Facebook group. A transplant from Cairo, Egypt, in her previous life Keem was managing partner of a branding and marketing firm. This is her first term as Family Engagement Chair.
Leah Brahin, Hospitality Co-Chair
A mother of two, a 6th grader at BHMS and a 10th grader at RBHS, Leah has been Hospitality Chair at BHMS and Chaparral ES (4 years) as well as Marquee Chair (5 years). She has also volunteered 10 years with a local fitness cub. A long-time paralegal, she currently works part time. She enjoys running, skiing and tennis (as well as being a mom). This is her second term.
Jennifer Rudolph, Hospitality Co-Chair
Jen has a current 8th and 4rd graders. She has held PTA positions including co-chairing Fitness Club and Fun Run. Previously, she was Hospitality Co-Chair and a Director with Chaparral Elementary Foundation. She owns her own small business, SheBuilds4U, and enjoys woodworking, running and time with friends and family. This is her first term.
Charlotte Jones, Match Olympiad
Charlotte is a mom of two boys, current 8th and 10th (RBHS). She previously chaired Arts Attack (3 yrs) and Reading Counts (2 yrs) at Mt. Woodson Elementary. She also serves on the Outreach Committee at St. Bartholomew’s Episcopal Church. Charlotte has two horses and enjoys snowboarding, mountain biking and running. This is her third year leading Math Olympiad.
Janaki Sundaram, Science Olympiad
Mother of two boys, current 8th and 2nd grade, Janaki has served in multiple PTA positions at Highland Ranch Elementary as well as held various volunteer roles at the school. Her professional background includes Software Engineer and Children’s Librarian. She enjoys books, music, Taichi, and also Volleyball. This is Janaki’s third year leading Science Olympiad.
Marie Galaz, Principal
Marie is a mom of two, currently in 5th and 2nd grade. Being the best mom possible is her personal goal. She actively volunteers at their elementary, currently as PTA VP. Being the principal of a middle school is definitely a full-time job! Working with students to help them achieve success is her passion. We welcome Marie’s active role in the BHMS PTSA.
